Just a quick follow up to my visit to surgical appliances for my footwear.
The lady technician was lovely, considerate and understanding, also gentle as she could be.
I have been measured and moulded and am to have a pair of boots not shoes which should hold my foot straight.
I chose brown with a velcro fastening which they have made a part of the design, I was surprised the styles
were much better than I imagined. They should be ready in 8 weeks.
In the mean time having seen my foot techno said I must be very careful because it really is on its last legs regarding
movement and was really fusing togethor and if it did the boots would be no good.
She also said that if I had been sent to her 2 years ago she could have done a lot to help me with the pain and to stop the foot deteriating and becoming so deformed.
I really wish I had pushed it more at the hosp ad insisted that they do something. So please if you are having problems do not leave it as ther are so many morre
options at the start.
Love Melanie

Hi Mel,

Glad to hear it went well and you'll soon be sorted out with a nice new shiny pair of boots!

Thanks for sharing that Melanie. It has been 20yrs years since I had specialist shoes and I'm off to discuss them again next week. I'm really not looking forward to it because my experience has been of ugly 'clodhopper' shoes...

You've definitely put my mind at rest a bit more... thanks again ThumpUp

Make sure you show us a pic when you get them!

Thanks for the warning Mel.

I hope you get your boots before your foot gets any worse.

Hi Mel, although not been to podiatrist or OT so far, I used to work with children with severe learning difficulties and complex medical needs, most of them needed ufo's or splints, and therefore had to be fitted with pedro boots etc. I was very surprised by the lovely styles to choose from. Its about time that they were made to look more like ordinary shoes, and I would have no problem in wearing them now. Hope they help you lots x Smile
